Caridina Mariae var. Deep Blue Tiger Orange Eyes

Description:

Caridina mariae var. Deep Blue Tiger with Orange Eyes is a unique and striking variant of freshwater shrimp often sought after by aquarists for its vibrant coloration and intricate patterns.

Caridina mariae is a species of shrimp native to Southeast Asia, particularly found in freshwater streams and rivers. It belongs to the family Atyidae and is commonly referred to as the Tiger Shrimp due to its striped appearance.

The “Deep Blue Tiger” variant exhibits a deep blue coloration across its body, which can vary in intensity from dark navy to cobalt blue. The blue hue is often contrasted with black or dark blue stripes running along the length of the shrimp’s body.

One of the most distinctive features of this variant is its bright orange eyes, which provide a striking contrast against the deep blue color of its body. These eyes add to the overall attractiveness of the shrimp and make them highly desirable for aquarium enthusiasts.

In addition to the blue coloration and orange eyes, Deep Blue Tiger shrimp may also display intricate patterns and markings along their bodies. These patterns can vary from shrimp to shrimp, with some individuals exhibiting thicker or more pronounced stripes than others.

Temperament:

Peaceful

Size:

2.5 – 3 cm

Water parameters:

Ensure stable water parameters with a temperature range of 72-78°F (22-26°C), pH around 6.5-7.5, and low to moderate hardness (GH 4-8, KH 0-4).

Perform regular water changes to maintain pristine water quality in the breeding tank. Avoid sudden fluctuations in temperature, pH, or other parameters, as these can stress the shrimp and inhibit breeding.

Use fine substrate such as sand or small gravel, plenty of live plants (like mosses and java ferns), and driftwood or other hiding spots.

Feedind:

Offer a varied diet to ensure optimal health and breeding conditions. Include algae-based foods, biofilm, blanched vegetables (like spinach or zucchini), and commercial shrimp foods.

Notes:

Like other Caridina species, Deep Blue Tiger shrimp require clean, well-oxygenated water with stable parameters to thrive in aquariums. They are known to be relatively hardy once acclimated but are sensitive to sudden changes in water quality. Providing a planted aquarium with plenty of hiding places and a varied diet consisting of algae, biofilm, and commercial shrimp foods will help ensure their health and vibrancy.
