Caridina sp. var. Pinto Red Multistriped

Description:

Appearance: The Caridina Red Pinto Stripe typically has a striking appearance characterized by its red and white coloration with distinct stripes. The red coloration can vary in intensity, and the white areas often feature clear or translucent patches.
Size: These shrimp are relatively small, typically reaching a size of around 1 to 1.5 inches (2.5 to 3.8 centimeters) in length when fully grown.
Striped Pattern: As the name suggests, the defining feature of the Caridina Red Pinto Stripe is its striped pattern. The stripes can vary in width and intensity, creating a unique and visually appealing look.
Pinto Genetics: The Red Pinto Stripe is part of the Pinto shrimp lineage, which includes various color morphs and patterns resulting from selective breeding. Pinto shrimp often exhibit a combination of solid coloration and distinctive patterns.
Behavior: Like other Caridina shrimp species, the Red Pinto Stripe is generally peaceful and can be kept in community aquariums with other non-aggressive tank mates. They are active scavengers and will sift through substrate and tank decorations in search of food.

Temperament:

Peaceful

Size:

2.5 – 3.0 cm

Water parameters:

Caridina shrimp, including the Red Pinto Stripe, are sensitive to water parameters, particularly water quality and temperature. They thrive in well-established, heavily planted aquariums with stable water conditions. Ideal water parameters typically include slightly acidic to neutral pH (around 6.5 to 7.5), low to moderate hardness (GH), and a temperature range of 72°F to 78°F (22°C to 26°C).

Feedind:

These shrimp are omnivores and will consume a variety of foods, including algae, biofilm, commercial shrimp pellets, blanched vegetables (such as zucchini or spinach), and occasional protein-rich treats like bloodworms or brine shrimp.

Notes:

Regular maintenance, including water changes, substrate vacuuming, and monitoring water parameters, is crucial for keeping Red Pinto Stripe shrimp healthy. Additionally, avoiding medications and chemicals that may harm shrimp is important, as they are sensitive to many common aquarium treatments.
